Factions

In Deepwoken, there are 11 different factions that will affect your gameplay in many different ways. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Being considered an on sight target

Factions with designated territory will chase you out should you step foot on their land.

  • Being placed on bounty boards

Factions will have bounty boards that player can view and take to hunt another player for a reward.

  • Being hunted by bounty hunter NPC’s

With a bad enough reputation with a faction, there will be the occasional NPC spawn with 3 soldiers of that faction with the intent to kill you.

  • Being hunted by bounty hunter players

Unlike NPC’s, players are significantly more formidable foes and being hunted by a player could result in your death.

These are the 11 factions, an overview, and their reputation statuses when you start a new journey:

  • Etrea – Friend*

Every new player will get a chance to begin at either Etris or the Isle of Vigils, both looked over by Etrea, located in the Etrean Luminant, and they are the most balanced faction. They do not upset easily, and can be pleased with a variety of jobs including defense of their empire.

  • The Hive – Neutral*

Located in the Eastern Luminant, The Hive is the biggest faction of that area, looking over most of the map and extending their authority to a giant tree. This faction can be pleased by doing work on taskboards.

  • The Children of Navae – Neutral

The Children of Navae are a more secluded group, having one very small camp at Etris and a larger, yet still very small town in the Eastern Luminant. Like The Hive and Etrea, this faction can be pleased by  assisting their soldiers in a fight, or taking jobs from a job board.

  • The Lost Celtor – Friend

The Lost Celtor is a more complicated faction, having been drowned and located in The Depths. There is no other way to please this faction other than ringing two specific bells that open a large gate. (This does make sense, as The Depths is basically hell.)

  • The Central Authority – Neutral

If you payed attention during the tutorial, then you will see that The Central Authority was what got you into your journey in the first place. The ways to please this faction are to assist their soldiers in a fight or to take jobs on a job board.

  • The Ignition Union – Neutral*

The Ignition Union is a faction based solely off mining ore. To please this faction, you can take jobs on a job board, or very rarely see them fighting The Summer Company.

  • The Hundred Legions – Enemy

The Hundred legions is a very, very small faction, having a single campground in a very secluded part of the Etrean Luminant. To please this faction, you can assist one of the Legionnaires fighting the Authority soldier, or to take jobs on a job board.

  • The Ministry – Enemy

The Ministry is the hardest faction to please, as you start with moderately low reputation with them. To please them, you can assist their soldiers in a fight, or trade your Knowledge to a certain NPC in the Etrean Luminant

  • The Divers – Neutral*

The Divers are located in The Depths, and can be pleased by taking jobs and beating 2 certain bosses. The only way to enter their territory without any issues is to enter The Depths without dying.

  • The Summer Company – Neutral*

The Summer Company is the most interesting faction to deal with, as they will attack should you aggravate them, and will not stop until you are either dead or out of sight. This cannot be avoided even with higher reputation. To please this faction, you can assist their soldiers in battle, take red boxes of dynamite to a certain NPC, or by taking jobs from a job board.

  • The Knives of Eylis – Enemy*

The Knives of Eylis is the most annoying faction to please due to the fact that you need to either work a lot, or become a bounty hunter through the voidwalker origin. To please this faction, you can assist their soldiers in battle through sea attacks (beware, even if you help them they will still see you as an enemy through the fight.). The second method to become a voidwalker and hunt other players for the kill, thus giving better reputation and a chest.

*The base reputations can change based off the origin you choose, but the base reputation remains tru when choosing the castaway origin.
