Innate Talents/Stats

1. Innate Talents

Innate Talents in Deepwoken are special abilities or traits that your character is born with. These talents can drastically influence your playstyle and provide advantages in combat, survival, or exploration. They are one of the most defining features of your character’s journey in the game. Here are some examples of the types of talents you can receive:

  • Combat Talents: These talents improve your combat abilities, such as increasing your damage with certain weapons or granting special passive effects while fighting. For example, some talents allow you to deal more damage with a particular type of weapon or boost your resistance to certain types of attacks.

  • Survival Talents: These talents enhance your ability to survive in the harsh world. You might receive buffs to your stamina, health regeneration, or even resistance to environmental effects like extreme cold or even acid rain.

  • Utility Talents: These talents are focused on exploration and navigation. They might include increased speed, better stamina management, or special abilities that allow you to traverse difficult terrains more easily.

  • Rare or Unique Talents: There are also rare or even hidden talents that can provide special abilities. These are typically harder to unlock or are tied to specific events or actions in the game.

The talents you choose can significantly impact how you approach combat and survival, so it’s important to consider your playstyle and the challenges you expect to face.

2. Innate Stats

Your character’s innate stats are a crucial part of the foundation of your gameplay experience. These stats determine your starting abilities and can be modified as you progress through the game. The main stats in the game include:

  • Health: This stat determines how much damage you can take before dying. A higher health stat means you can endure more hits, but it may come at the cost of agility or stamina.

  • Willpower: This stat controls how much mental strain your character can endure before succumbing to madness. If your sanity drops too low, you may suffer from mental debuffs or other negative effects.

  • Charisma: Charisma is vital for your character’s ability to perform actions like charming enemies for status buffs, taunting for status debuffs, or attacking. The more charisma you have, the longer you can keep up these actions, weakening your opponents.

  • Strength: A higher strength stat increases your damage with melee weapons and boosts your overall physical power. Strength is key if you prefer a close-combat playstyle.

  • Agility: This stat affects your mobility, including your speed and dodging ability. Higher agility allows for quicker movements, making it easier to dodge attacks and engage in fast-paced combat.

  • Intelligence: Intelligence affects your magical or elemental abilities in the game. It can also affect certain puzzle-solving aspects or exploration features. Those who favor magic and elemental powers will benefit from a high intelligence stat.

  • Fortitude: Fortitude determines your resilience against various types of damage. It is often tied to your ability to withstand attacks and environmental hazards. A higher fortitude means better overall resistance and durability.

(Do note that there are only 5 total innate points, which do virtually nothing in a new character’s creation, but they cannot be changed, as they are innate for a reason.)

These stats can be adjusted as you level up your character and progress. The stats you prioritize will directly impact how you handle the game’s challenges.
